About me

My past

I grew up as the chubby girl who was every girl's best friend.
I was generally happy, optimistic, wasn't afraid to make fun of myself, and many thanks to my long-time childhood friends, had a fun and memorable childhood. Then came my teenage years where I pretended to be having just as much fun daydreaming of the could-be life while my friends dated, talked about their boyfriends, and dressed in girly, pretty clothes.

My max weight was 80 kg (176 lbs) in middle school, while the average weight of girls around me was 50 kg (110 lbs) at the time. Weight-wise it might not sound like a lot, but at the time I felt like I was 1/2 a person "too much". I loved taking pictures with my girlfriends but cowered to look at them afterwards, because I looked "different" or "bigger" than the average girl.

Most of the fad diets, pills, meal substitutes and drinks I've tried were during my high school and college years. I would alternate between periods of restrictive dieting and periods of binge-eating. The results of course..., were not very favorable.

At the end of college in 2006 I weighed 70 kg (154 lbs), and after 3 months of dieting before starting my first job I weighed approximately 62 kg (136 lbs). I also developed a mild case of anemia during the same time period due to an unbalanced diet.

During the next two years I went up again to 68 kg (149 lbs) and stayed there until I joined the local gym in 2009 and started this blog.

My present

Since starting this blog in January of 2009 I have been trying to develop healthy lifestyle habits that would actually last. I think I can say now that I have officially graduated from the school of (fad-)dieting and will NOT go back there again.

I am educating myself on correct knowledge and prepping myself with tools that I need on my lifetime journey of health maintenance and healthy FAT (not weight) LOSS.

I was at my fittest, 60 kg, in April of 2010. Since then I've switched jobs in July of 2010 and moved back to my hometown Taipei in March of 2011. My current weight  as of January 3rd, 2012, is 72.70 kg (newest weigh-in here).

I wish I could give you the happily-ever-after ending here and show you AWESOME comparison pics. But I can't.... yet :D So here's my 'before' pic.

My 2012 resolutions

My goal is to achieve a toned and feminine shape and to do it the fun and realistic way.
I want to do things I like, eat good foods, and live my life the way I should be living it.

I know that there CAN be a balance in life, and I will spend as long as it takes to find it. I am going to achieve a healthier, prettier, happier me, and then make the changes last.

My approach is to eat healthy, workout/dance/play sports/stay active and do all the things I like, AND keep a positive mentality. I believe that there is a way we can have it all, and I am on my way to figure it out.

My resolutions in 2012 are to:
  1. Workout at least 3 times a week, every week
  2. Get to 58 kg and maintain a toned body shape
  3. Blog at least once a week
I will post at least once a week to record my progress. My mid-term goals are to make a beach trip on July 1st and to attend my 10-year high school reunion in December, and to look great at both :)

Here's to another AWESOME year!
